Faith, Hope and Charity are three virtues that we as Masons hold dear. In this time of uncertainty, those key virtues are never more important.
“We are all in this together.” A statement that has become commonplace for the world today. That statement shows how small this world really is, and we are no longer at a perpetual distance… well, at least a 6-foot distance. However, it is the faith in the Supreme Architect of the Universe, faith in our fellow men, faith in the world that we will see this through to the end, and we will be stronger for it.
We can look at the brighter side of this “lockdown.” Our fast-paced lives came to a screeching halt, and we are now able to stop and smell the roses. We aren’t running off to the next event and just seeing family members in passing — we are able to spend time with them. We have the time to make that phone call, send that text or type that e-mail or even take the dog for a walk. These simple things give us the hope that a new day will dawn, and we will be back to “normal”. Hope is our anchor that we can make it through these tough times.
Charity is everywhere. It could be donations of time and money, maybe providing food for the medical staff because they don’t have time to get their lunch or delivering food to make sure children have breakfast. Charity is checking on the neighbors and dropping off a four- pack of Charmin to a friend. Everyone is doing what they can to help because we are all in this together.
Our Faith must be strong. We must Hope for a future without illness and have Charity for ALL MANKIND
