Volunteer and Get Involved!

The Valley of Dayton operates from the support of many volunteer hours from its members.  Dozens of members are involved at every reunion and at every event.   Regardless of what skills you may have, your help is always needed, and greatly appreciated. Give of your time, talent and experience by volunteering for one or more of these committees or degree teams.

Help Needed! – The Valley of Dayton is in need of members to assist in the Robe Room during all degree conferrals.

The following is a descriptive list of the committees in the Valley of Dayton:

Candidate Aides
Help direct the class reunion during breaks, give information about the Scottish Rite.
Children’s Dyslexia Center
The Neil and Willa Jean Smalley Children’s Dyslexia Center Valley of Dayton provides one-on-one tutoring services for children with dyslexia.  These services are at no cost to the families and is supported by the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Dayton, under The Supreme Council.  The Learning Center provides a safe, warm, and welcoming environment for children up to 18 years of age, regardless of race, gender, ethnicity, or Masonic affiliation.  Members are encouraged to assist with fundraising efforts or to participate in the many events held during the year to benefit the Neil and Willa Jean Smalley Children’s Dyslexia Center, Valley of Dayton.
Communications and Promotion
Includes areas of Valley event promotion and reporting, maintaining and utilizing social media and website for event communication.  Attends the various Valley events and documents the action and history of the Scottish Rite through photos and news reports.  Anyone with experience in web design is highly encouraged to participate in the Valley Communications Committee.
Hospitality
Membership and Retention

Develop and promote events for members and families. Recruit new members, mentor existing membership, and contacting suspended members for possible reinstatement.  

Music and Chior
Participate in the Choir, play the organ, or play various musical instruments during the portrayal of specific degrees.
Registration
Assists in all aspects of registration of members and candidates before the reunion, including ring-sizing.
Safety
Stage, Lighting and Sound

In charge of all audio/visual aspects of performances and events. This includes setting, operating and tearing down the stage during various performances, sets lighting cues and working the lighting board, working sound board and dressing the degree teams with cordless microphones as needed.

Tyler

Helps tile at the doors of the facility at all times, including during reunions, stated meetings, and at other special events.

Wardrobe

Issues costumes and robes to the degree cast members, assists in the maintenance of the  costumes and robes.  Other duties could include applying make-up and wigs to cast members prior to the performances.

32° Lodge Ambassadors

Ambassadors to each of the Blue Lodges in the Valley of Dayton, keeping your Lodges informed of Scottish Rite activities, assist the Membership Committee, and provide  feed back or suggestions from Lodges to the Valley.
